Just to share my thoughts on the way forward for MARTS Selangor.
Pending the Annual General Meeting of the MARTS National Council and subject to the new Council's sanction and permission, this is how we need to bring forward the Selangor Council.
There needs to be a permanent secretariat for the body. The current practise of hopping from one place to another, often causing inconvenience, for plans and meetings needs to cease. Hopefully with the acquisition of a shop lot at Section 14 PJ will see a more structured entity.
We also need to have a full time secretariat, where someone will be around to update the membership register and 'man the counter' so to speak where all related information can be marshalled and made available.
One of the priorities would be to update the Table of Equipment listed under the approved apparatus section on the MCMC webpage. That and streamlining the importation procedure with SIRIM. At present we are at the mercy of SIRIM. For commercial sets there seems to be no issues but for us, all sort of obstacles seems to be put up vis a vis our purchases so much so that we tend to skip the legal aspects of the importation.
Next is the updating of the membership register, i.e. the details and license apparatus end date. It would be nice also if all members were to get the membership card and sticker on time and most importantly with the relevant details on the card.
Then we can look into organising the revenue and income stream of the society. At present it relies on subscriptions only and perhaps donations. Perhaps we can brainstorm on the matter and I do have some ideas on how to raise some capital for the society but that will need a lot of work and committment from the members to make it a success.

Am liking the idea... am willing to help out with manning the counter and updating the register as and when I can... ;)
