MARTS AGM

Salam to all,

Just to update you on the results of the MARTS AGM held at Ipoh on 29 November 2009.

Sad to say that the annual report was not tabled. Notes on SIG (special interest groups) were circulated and generally no comments were made on the SIG write up. Kudos to them for taking the time to put pen to paper and printing it for circulation.

The accounts were tabled and numerous queries were raised but to me personally it was all above board except perhaps the amount spent on the National Link, but then, it is something for the new Council members to think about.

For your information, the Honorary Secretary is and was incommunicado (as stated by the President) and hence the lack of the annual report and the information data base.

For your information the election to the Council raised some interesting insights, which I will share with you -

(a) Not everyone seems keen to sit on the Council, as evidenced by the lack of nominations. According to the President , no written nominations were received. (I am guilty of not submitting)

(b) Despite all the criticisms thrown at the Council, no one is prepared to take up the baton (well except for 9W2GL and me) and do the necessary for the betterment of the Society.

Anyway, that is my personal view - members in benefit may have some issues with it as there are commitments and committments.

The line up for the term until the next election AGM in 2011 is:-

President - 9W2GL Wan Morhisham Mokhtar
Interim Secretary - 9M2CJ - Thiam Ming
Interim Treasurer - 9M2NCL - Andre Ng
Members - 9W2AA, 9W2LL, 9W2XYZ, 9W2CP, 9W2CW and 9w2SBS.

The reason for the interim status of the Secretary and Treasurer is that for purposes on getting the hand over done as soon as possible.

The President will call for a Council Meeting to set up the Bureau's and the allocation of responsibility and importantly the setting of individual council members Key Performance Indicators leading to Key Result Areas.

So members of the Amateur Radio community - lend us your hands and your support so that we can make the Society relevant to the community as a whole and take the lead in providing for the members.

New date for AGM MARTS

Hi All

9M2CJ has informed me that the long overdue AGM of MARTS will be held in Ipoh on the 29th of November 2009. Actual venue will be made known in the notices.

Just a thought - if the AGM is on 29th November 2009 - the notices should be out by now.....

MARTS OVERDUE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Hi

This is what I heard over the long awaited Annual General Meeting of our Society.

The date proposed for the AGM is 29 November 2009 (so guys and gals book the date in your PDA, Iphone, diaries) Venue will be in IPOH PERAK.

Part of the agenda for the ELECTION OF COUNCIL MEMBERS.

God forbid, but in the event the audited accounts have not been prepared, the meeting and the election will still be held. (How on earth is the new committee going to function and why should it accept the liability is something that the present council members to think off).

MEMBERS WHO ARE DEEMED ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND AND STAND FOR ELECTION DURING THE AGM ARE THOSE WHOSE MEMBERSHIP IS CURRENT UP TO 31ST DECEMBER 2008. PROOF OF SUBSCRIPTION PAYMENT IS REQUIRED FOR YEAR 2008 THE PRESENT COUNCIL WILL NOT BE PROPOSING ANY NEW COUNCIL MEMBER LINE FOR TERM YEAR 2009/2010.

MARTS AGM (Tentative)

Hi

I just heard from a very reliable source that

"the President of MARTS will be calling for a Council Meeting on Friday 23 October 09. At this meeting they will decide the date and place of AGM (Probably Sunday 22 Nov. ) The earliest they can have the AGM is sometime in Nov 2009 provided Hari Raya Haji holidays is not the excuse to delay further."


So guys and gals and (not forgetting the SWL's) renew your 2009 subscription if you want to have a say in the running of the society.
