The clarion call to action has been made. The time for change is at hand. It is time for us to grab the bull by the horns and time to walk the talk.
What is this all about? You may ask. I am referring to the deplorable state of the affairs in our National Radio Amateur Society - the Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitters Society (MARTS).
I was informed (correctly or otherwise) that the reason the present council took over the administration of the society as they believed they could do a better job and that they had the expertise to do so. From what I have seen - some of the council members are doing a good job and some of them - please stop warming the seats, get off it and make way for new blood.
Imagine to my delight to get a newsletter from MARES through the post - what happened to the promised news letter from MARTS?
So, ladies and gentlemen, AA holders and SWLS, and all members of MARTS, this is what I want to do and I need your help to do this.
- Convene an EGM of MARTS - elect an INTERIM COMMITTEE with the sole purpose of reorganising the society;
- give the INTERIM COMMITTEE a time frame of 9 months 10 days (why 9M10D is because that is the period for us to gestate to become a human being) to reorganise the society.
- An amensty of one years subscription for 2009 be granted,
- all previous MARTS members be granted an amensty for all unpaid subscription for previous years.
- Collect 2010 fees and issue receipts and membership cards.
- Redraft the constitution,
- organise one activity (I say organise a fox hunt cum meet the members session)
- seek approval from the Registrar of Societies to hold the AGM on or before the due date.
In order for this to happen, I will need 30 MARTS members to sign a petition calling for an EGM which needs to be submitted to the National Secretary and to the Registrar of Societies, with information to MCMC. I humbly seek that out of the 30 members 10 must be holders of A class i.e the 9M's.
Should the National Secretary fail to call the EGM, we will then seek the approval of the ROS to hold the EGm in Selangor.
